| Beaufort County attracts millions of visitors a year. For some, this is their first trip to Beaufort, SC and others have been here before. Just about everyone, on their first visit, says "oh my goodness, you guys sure have some humidity, you can cut it with a knife." Within a day or two, there is not much talk of humidity, it's "Oh my goodness, I can't believe it, it's so beautiful and the people, I've never met such charming people before." You do get used to the humidity, but you don't get used to the never-ending beauty, or the charm found only in the deep south, in Beaufort, SC. |

Beaufort has so many attractions, it's hard to see them all in a week, let alone a month. One of the most popular is the beach at Hunting Island. There not only will you find unspoiled beaches, but nature trails, a board walk, fishing pier, and camping. If you are into history, Beaufort, SC has antebellum homes older than the USA. There are battle fields and remains of old forts that once protected this area from attacks. Presently, an archaeology dig is going on at Parris Island, with what is presumed to be one of the oldest settlements in the country. There are museum's, old graveyards and old churches that were used as hospitals during the Civil War by the Union troops. |
| Of course Beaufort has the usual things, like a bowling alley, library, museums, fast food places, shopping centers, etc. Beaufort has just about anything you could think of to make a vacation dream come true. This site has a tremendous amount of information on the Beaufort area and what to expect. Bring lots of stuff for swimming, some film, more film, and a lot more film. When you get here, stop by the Chamber of Commerce, not only will you meet some really nice folks there, but you'll get to see the first of many historical homes, as the Chamber is located in the Conant House, built in 1870. They will be happy to help you in whatever you need, and help you get the most out of your visit to Beaufort. Oh, did I mention to bring a lot of film? |
